Be a Director!
The directors are an integral piece of the 24 Experiment production process, and will be especially challenged with the task of casting, motivating, blocking, and rehearsing a team of actors for a production within 10 hours.
There will be 6 directors and 2 assistants. Directors should have previous directing experience and should indicate whether they would like to work with an assistant. Assistant directors will support and learn from the directors, and no prior directing experience is required.
The directing teams will draw from a hat to determine which play they will direct. After the directors have received their plays, they will be given 20 minutes to read them, and then 10 minutes to confer by telephone with the writers. After reading their plays, the directors participate in the "casting draft". Each directing team will in turn select 1 actor each round. They will continue in order until each director has selected all their cast members from the participating actors.
Directors and assistant directors will be expected to arrive at the theater on Friday evening at 7 pm for the initial meeting of all participants, then return the next morning at 7:30 am for script selection, actor casting and commencement of rehearsal.
Directors will be expected to maintain the intention of the scripts provided.
